The Winter Food Drive is being coordinated by Progreso Latino and the César Chávez Scholarship Fund and will span the birthdays of two well-know civil rights leaders: It runs from January 15, Martin Luther King Day and ends with the Annual Breakfast Celebration on March 31, the birthday of César E. Chávez. Click here for more information about the César Chávez Breakfast.

For the sixth year, a number of businesses and organizations in Central Falls and Pawtucket, including respective school districts and municipalities, are working together to coordinate a food drive for local food pantries starved of provisions for the winter.

Last year, we collected over 5,000 pounds of food and this year, coordinators are committed to reaching a broader group of individuals in need in the Blackstone Valley. The food drive is in keeping with the annual tradition that celebrates giving and community in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and César E. Chávez.
