Wellness Center

In the fall of 1999, with the financial support of the Rhode Island Department of Health, Office of Minority Health, Progreso Latino opened the Latino Wellness Center; making it the first of its kind in the state of Rhode Island.

Senior

The mission of the Wellness Center is to eliminate the disparity in access to health services that exists between the Latino community and the general population, and provides the Latino community with information and education, on topics such as HIV prevention, cancer awareness, diabetes, nutrition, cardiovascular disease, domestic violence, women’s health issues, substance abuse and many others.

The Center is located inside of Progreso Latino’s facilities to give the community greater access to the services provided. HIV and cancer screening through Women & Infants Wellness Van is made possible in collaboration with Brown Medical School and Lifespan.
