Alexandria Diaz Health Care For America NOW!

You may have heard that some in Congress are trying to slow down health care reform -- which is perfectly in line with Republican National Committee chair Michael Steele's strategy to kill reform by delay. The House has strong legislation that would save the average family $2,800 per year on health care, and would pay for it by increasing taxes on the top 1.5 percent of income-earners, effecting only 4 percent of small businesses with the highest income earners. The tim… Continue

Marta V. Martínez Census 2010 and Same-Sex Marriage

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom recently stepped onto the national stage taking a decisive stance on pro-gay rights issues. The San Francisco Chronicle stated, “Newsom asked the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Census Bureau to recognize same-sex couples in the 2010 Census.” The Census Bureau has stated several times that it will not count same-sex partners as “couples” in the 2010 Census. That decision has irked gay rights advocates who argue proper identification would boost their numbers and p… Continue
